
The Rt Revd Dr Rose Hudson-Wilkin CD MBE KHC*

The Right Reverend Rose Josephine Hudson-Wilkin CD MBE KHC is a British Anglican prelate** who serves as Suffragan Bishop of Dover in the diocese of Canterbury - deputising for the Archbishop - since 2019.
She is the first black woman to become a Church of England Bishop. In 2007 she was appointed as a Chaplain to Her Majesty the Queen and in 2010, she became the 79th (and first female) Chaplain to the Speaker of the House of Commons.
She trained with the Church Army before entering parish ministry. Bishop Rose led the prayers in the House of Commons daily and had pastoral care of members and staff of the Palace of Westminster. In 2014, she additionally became the Priest in Charge of the city Church, St Mary-at- Hill.
In 2019, she was given the Order of Distinction by the Jamaican Government (Rank of Commander) and was awarded an MBE in the New Years Honours list. In November 2019, she was consecrated as a Bishop in the Church of England and installed in Canterbury Cathedral as the Bishop of Dover with the responsibility for the diocese of Canterbury for the Archbishop of Canterbury.
In May 2023, she took part in the Coronation of King Charles III, one of three female bishops to do so.
